Church History
God's Miracle Mission was founded in September of 1963 by Ralph and Florie Hunt. The manner in which God's Miracle Mission came into existence was amazing. Stirred by a dream and a desperate desire to know the will of God in her and her husband's life, Sister Hunt went on a 36 day fast.
Early one morning Sister Hunt was getting ready to go to the Post Office. As she took hold of the door knob, the Lord said, "You have not prayed yet!" She replied, "Lord I prayed while I was getting dressed, but if that is the way you feel, I will go back and kneel down and pray." As she knelt down and began to cry unto the Lord, he asked her, "Did not I tell you I would prosper you in the way thou shouldest go?" She replied, "Yes Lord, you did." She arose and continued about her daily task of visiting the Post Office and cooking Bro. Hunt dinner.
While Sister Hunt was carrying the food from the kitchen to the dinning table, the thought came to her, "Yes Lord you said you would prosper us in the way we should go, but Lord how are we going to know where to go?" The Lord spoke, saying, "Go to my prophet Howard Griffin in Apalachacola, Florida. When you get there he will have the message telling you where to go.
They drove 75 miles to Bro. Griffin's house. When they arrived he was pacing his front yard with his hands behind his back. Before they could get out of their car, Bro. Griffin said, "Get out! How come you're so late? The Master told me this morning you would be here. Sit down before you say anything." Continuing he said, "The Master gave me a message for you. He said you are going to Dover, Florida and building a church."
The Lord gave Bro.Griffin a vision of the church building, revealing its name in large letters across the sky -- "God's Miracle Mission."
Bro. and Sis. Hunt drove 300 miles to Dover looking for property to build God's Miracle Mission. That is when they came upon the theatre property that we are presently occupying on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. the original price was $21,000.00 for 21 acres, but after waiting upon God for over six months, the Lord impressed them to offer the owner $10,000.00 and they accepted. God supplied the need. Within 90 days they were given money to pay the debt off.
With only $2.00 to start building, the rest is history. By means of miracle after miracle, God supplied all the needs according the His riches in glory. Thanks be unto God for the Hunt's obedience to God in building this church!
On January 18th of 2004 Bro David Lamb and Family came to pastor the church. They were originally from the hills of eastern Kentucky where he had held pastorates in three other churches (including two pioneer works).
When the Lamb Family came six years ago there were only a handful of people in attendance that first Sunday service (approximately six members and seven visitors). The building was in desperate need of repair: the roof leaked, ceilings were caving in, the Sunday School rooms were piled to the ceiling with trash, and the carpet was duct taped to the sanctuary floor.
During their pastorate, they grew to approximately forty members, replaced the roof, put new ceilings in the fellowship hall and Sunday School rooms, and totally remodeled the sanctuary, bathrooms, kitchen, and stuccoed and painted the outside of the church.
Also while Bro Lamb was pastor The Lord saved, sanctified, and filled souls with the Holy Ghost, mended the broken, healed the wounded, restored marriages, and done many miracles in their midst.
On March 7, 2010 Bro. Lamb resigned to return to the evanglistic field as the Lord had dealt with him to do so, and can be contacted through his new website davidlambministries.com.
On March 9, 2010 Bro. Scott Hostetler was taken in as the new pastor of God's Miracle Mission.
